ABSOLUTE BEST WHITE CHOCOLATE MACADAMIA NUT COOKIES
I must admit that I’m a bit of a chocolate chip cookie aficionado A little more than 40 years ago, my wife and I moved to the San Francisco Bay Area and, on our first trip to SF, we discovered this incredible little cookie shop called the Blue Chip Cookie shop that had the absolute best cookies I’d ever had. It was located at the end of the Powell/Hyde Cable Car line near Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco. The shop was next door to the historic Buena Vista Cafe which is famous for its authentic Irish Coffee. So our final stop on nearly every trip to SF was a stop at the Buena Vista and the Blue Chip Cookie shop where every time we had a cookie to top off the Irish Coffee and bought a dozen of the Blue Chip White Chocolate Macs to take home with us.Sadly, a few years later, the shop closed and, in my travels across the US, I found lots that used the name “White Chocolate Macadamia cookie”, but none that came close to those San Francisco gems. But alas, with the assistance of the internet and Google searches, I found a company outside Cincinnati, in Milford, Ohio, that is owned and operated by Donna Drury-Heine and her husband Bob Heine, called Blue Chip Cookies. They had acquired the remnants of the SF Blue Chip Cookie business and their secret recipes and today they ship their cookies all over the US. I haven’t tried any of their numerous other varieties that I’m sure are great but, I figure, once you’ve discovered “cookie nirvana”, why look any further.”
